William J. Barrow (83) passed away peacefully in his home on June 17, 2024.
Bill was born October 5, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Smyrna, Georgia where he met and married his wife of 62 years, Saundra (Eaton), on October 20, 1962. Bill has called Lexington, Kentucky home since 1967. After working for 30 years at IBM, he retired in 1992 and continued to work as a real estate appraiser until 2022.
Everyone who knew Bill, or "Goggy", a name coined by his youngest granddaughter, knew that he was gracious, humble, and completely devoted to his family. He took quiet pride in everything he did, from countless hours spent driving around central Kentucky to appraise homes, to weekends spent grilling the perfect burger or steak for his family, to his meticulous schedule for watering his perfectly manicured yard.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Saundra; two children, Selene (David) Martin and Billy (Claudine) Barrow; five grandchildren, Madison, Melanie (Brandon) Slusher, Megan, Brady (Kate) Barrow, and Tanner; two great-grandchildren, Adelie Slusher and Reese Barrow; and a brother, Robert Barrow.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 1:00pm at Broadway Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice at Bluegrass Care Navigators.
