Tommy Charles Burton, 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Born in Georgetown, KY, on September 26, 1946, he was the son of the late James Gano and Marie Patterson Burton.

He was a man of the people and a friend to all. He devoted his life to his family and never failed to help out whenever asked. He will leave an empty space within his family that will never be filled.

He was an avid horse lover, dedicating over 40 years to working with both Keenland and Churchill Downs. Growing up in Scott County, he cherished family time on the river and later enjoyed traveling, particularly to races. He was a passionate fan of UK basketball, the Cincinnati Reds, and especially his grandchildren's sports. Tommy was a retired data processor with IBM and later pursued a career with TMMK in the paint department.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, Brenda Collins Burton, Tommy is survived by his children, Tricia (Chuck) Patton and Michael (Holly) Burton; and his grandchildren, Kayla Marie Patton and Charles Thomas "Chase" Patton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James P. Burton.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson's Funeral Home, with visitation from 4 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Friends Farm, 1841 Paynes Depot Rd, Georgetown, KY 40324 (www.oldfriendsequine.org).
