With deep sorrow and endless love, we share that Susan Elaine O'Rourke went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Born on April 19, 1964, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Susan was the beloved daughter of the late Gerard Joseph O'Rourke of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Wanda Erwin Jackson of Diana, Texas. She was also blessed with a devoted father Marion, who played an important role in her life and whom she loved dearly.

Susan spent much of her childhood in Black Log Valley, Orbisonia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the warmth of her maternal grandparents, Warren and Martena Gabert Erwin, whose love helped shape the woman she became. She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Kathryn Moylan O'Rourke of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and James Joseph O'Rourke of Goldsboro, North Carolina; and her cherished nephew Corey Lee O'Rourke. She is also reunited with her companion, Barney, her beloved pet who brought many years of comfort and joy.

Susan's heart belonged to her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Cassie Deffinbaugh and husband Len, of Georgetown, Kentucky. Her greatest joy was being "Mimi" to her granddaughters Mary Madelynn, and Marissa Comer (Taylor) along with three great grand children Aubrielle, Akira and Astrid whom she adored beyond measure. She also leaves behind a loving circle of family: her brothers Joseph O'Rourke (Margie) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Terry Lee O'Rourke of Cumberland, Maryland; Bradley Jackson (Crystal) of Deer Park, Texas and James Palmer (Kim) of Ore City, Texas; and her sisters Mary Kay Clark (Garry) of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, and Dawna Solis (Sam) of Honolulu, Hawaii. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, as well as her lifelong best friends, Sherry Lightner of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Richard Follin of Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Susan was a graduate of Allegany High School and later attended Vo-Tech in Cresaptown, Maryland, before earning her nursing degree from Allegany College. She devoted 27 years to her calling as a Licensed Practical Nurse, caring for geriatric patients with kindness and compassion until her retirement. Beyond her career, Susan's greatest joy was being with her family—never missing a milestone, celebration, or moment to share in their happiness.

Susan's life was a testament to love, resilience, and selflessness. She had a heart that embraced everyone, always putting others before herself. Her kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion will be carried on by those she loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Susan's honor to the ASPCA, an organization she deeply supported. They also wish to extend their gratitude to the compassionate staff at Signature Healthcare, and Fresenius Kidney Care in Georgetown, Kentucky, Along with the staff at The University of Kentucky Hospital for their care and support.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in Black Log Valley at a later date, where family and friends will come together to honor Susan's beautiful spirit, cherish the memories she created, and celebrate the love she so freely gave to everyone who knew her.
