Robert Wayne Lanter, 83, widower of Judy A. Lanter, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024. Born in Bourbon County, KY, he was the son of the late E.L. and Velva Lyons Lanter.
A retired supervisor with Sylvania, he was an avid sports fan, especially concerning UK and the Cincinnati Reds and was inducted into the Kentucky Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. A member of Versailles Baptist church, he enjoyed golf, working in his yard and garden, but treasured time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Missie Lanter and Jeff (Regina) Lanter; brothers, Tod (Glenna) Lanter, Charles (Rose) Lanter and Elwood (Janice) Lanter; grandchildren, Shawn Lewis, Stefan (Tenille) Lewis, Coty Lewis, Dayne (Rosie) Lewis, Abbey Lanter, Emma (Tommy) Rowe and Sophie Lanter; great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Charlotte Ann Lewis, River Lewis and Lynna June Rowe. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy McCollins.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday at Johnson's Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Philip Meade. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Tommy Rowe and Keith Wayne Lancaster. Honorary bearers will be his granddaughters, Rick Dalzell and Danny Glass. Visitation will be 11 AM till service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
