Paul J. Hopkins Jr., 75, of Georgetown, KY, and formerly of Darlington, Beaver Co., PA, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 6, 2024, after a 4 year, courageous battle with cancer.

Born on June 3, 1949, in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Paul J. Sr. and Doreen [Bernoske] Hopkins.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces in the Republic of Vietnam. He retired from Ipsco Koppel Tubulars, Ambridge Plant, as a Mandrel Mill Operator in 2017. He was a member of SS Francis & John Catholic Parish, Georgetown, and a former member of St. Monica Catholic Parish in Beaver Falls, PA. Paul was a member of the American Legion Post 24, Georgetown and a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8106, New Galilee, PA. Having been raised in Colonia New Jersey, he was an avid, lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He was a compassionate, generous, kind man. He was the epitome of a "gentle" man who was devoted to his family, and always eager to help a friend or a neighbor in anyway. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and took great pride in his weedless lawn and groomed yard. He especially enjoyed his weekend trips with his wife & family to the Ohio beaches and wineries of Lake Erie. He liked walking the beach & collecting beach glass and camping and fishing with his son. He enjoyed going to the movies and visiting local wineries, & spending time with his veteran friends at his clubs.

Paul was the beloved husband of 52 years to Lyn (LoBello) Hopkins, cherished father to son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Hopkins and adored grandfather "Daido" to Alexander J. Hopkins, all of Georgetown, KY. He is also survived by brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Michael & Barbara LoBello, Pgh., PA, nieces, Abbey LoBello, Dallas, TX, Alicia Greenleaf and her family and Shannon & her husband Rob Block, Duncansville, PA. and relished & dear family friends, Brian & Colleen LaNeve and their family, Beaver Falls and Fombell, PA. He is also survived by cousins in Exeter and Jermyn, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law & father-in-in law, Connie & Joseph LoBello III and brother-in-law, Joseph LoBello IV.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 10, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 641 S Broadway St., Georgetown, KY, and on Friday, October 11, at 10:45 am when friends will gather to travel with the family to Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3250 Versailles Rd., Frankfort, KY, for a Blessing Service to be held at 12:00 noon.
