Nancy Ellen Giles, 92, widow of Darrell Allen Giles, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025. Born in Bethany, IL, she was the daughter of the late George and Hester Roney Schlesinger.

She and Darrell raised their family in Huntington Woods, Michigan. There they were very active with bowling, golf, and getting together with friends to play cards. In 1980 they moved to San Diego California where many members of her family lived. There they were big in postcard collecting and country western dancing, they gave lessons every Friday night. Their passion in San Diego was being able to get away for weekends to Las Vegas Nevada. She loved playing the slot machines and Darrell loved blackjack and craps. That was their happy place. In 2003 they then moved to Georgetown, Kentucky, where she made numerous friends and got heavily involved in local and national politics and current events as well as being very active in the Republican women's club.

Her true passion was Genealogy and she belonged to the Genealogy Society Club and taught classes at the Scott County Public Library. After her husband passed away, she volunteered at the Georgetown Community Hospital, where she ran the gift shop for several years.

She loved her three "B's:" bridge, bingo and bunco. Often you would find her getting a Bridge game together or going to somebody's house for bunco. Loved going out to lunch with the Lunch Bunch and anybody else that would want to go with her.

She was a member of Harmony Christian Church and was loved and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Jaiver) Clark and Melissa Jones; one sister, Mary Whaley; one grandchild, Graham Clark (Amelia); three great grandchildren: Aubrey, Gregory, Kenny; three "bonus" grandchildren: Dean, Christine and Marshall; seven "bonus" great grandchildren: Lauren, Marshall, Ted, William, Raquel, Zach, Paul; eight "bonus" great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Richard and Randall Giles; siblings, Clyde Schlesinger and Sue Wiepert; and her son-in-law, Dean Jones.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Harmony Christian Church. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Private burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-North, Williamstown, KY.
