Mary R. Durán , born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the age of 95.
Mary was a woman of deep and unshakable faith. Her relationship with God guided every part of her life and was the foundation of the love, strength, and kindness she shared with others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always found joy in caring for her family. Her strong spirit and sense of humor brought comfort and smiles to those around her, even during hard times.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Heraclio Durán ; her parents, Antonia and Esteban Rivera ; her grandchildren, Joseph Edward Durán and Carolina Durán ; her brother, Victor Rivera ; and her sisters, Guadalupe Garcia, Antonia Gonzales, Angela Martinez , and Isabel Macias .
She is survived by her loving children: Fernando Durán (Lucy Durán), Sylvia Durán Campos (Edmundo Campos Jr.), Ray Durán, Edward Durán (Lisa Durán) , and Esther Garcia (Paul Garcia) . Mary's faith-filled life continues through her many grandchildren: Paul Durán, Deborah Jempty, Michelle Durán, Jacqueline Gonzales, Frank Cuellar, Mark Cuellar, John Cuellar, Danielle Vidal, Ray Durán Jr., Kathy Mason, Issac De Hoyos, Paul A. Garcia, Vincent Garcia, Genaro Garcia, Gabriella Garcia, Tony Flores, Analisa Durán , and Elena Durán . Mary Duran also had numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 , from 4:00 to 8:00 PM , with a rosary at 6:00 PM , at Holy Family Catholic Church . Additional visitation will take place on Thursday, May 29, at 8:30 AM at Ortiz Mortuary (Chapel B) , with a procession departing at 9:30 AM for Mass at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church . Graveside services will follow at San Fernando #2 .
Mary will be deeply missed and always remembered by everyone who knew her. Her strong faith, loving heart, and joyful spirit touched many lives and will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
