Marshall F. Smith (77), of Stamping Ground, KY, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his family on October 28, 2023. Marshall was born to Forrest and Virginia Smith, on October 23, 1946 in Louisville, KY. He was a U.S. Army veteran, highway engineer, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing maintenance employee who was experienced in woodworking, building, carpentry, and photography. He was also a champion disc-dogger and founder of the Bluegrass Area Disc Dogs (Baddogs). In his retirement, he enjoyed spending his free time cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats, photographing birds, furry friends, and his granddaughter, and creating unique birdseed mixes to attract his favorite feathered friends. Marshall is survived by his wife Margaret and daughter, Sarah. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Josh Rowe, and granddaughter Arianne.
In place of a funeral, Marshall's family will host a traditional Irish wake on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Friends and family are welcome to join this casual celebration of life as one last party to honor Marshall, any time between 1:00 and 5:00 at Slainte Public House in Georgetown, KY. Food and drink will be shared while family and friends share funny memories and stories in a relaxed and loving atmosphere.
