Obituary

Lula Mae "Pig" (Johnson) Taylor, 97, widow of Thomas Taylor Sr., passed away on Thursday, August 21st, 2020. She was born on August 3rd, 1923 in Georgetown, Kentucky, daughter of the late James and Betty Lee (Green) Johnson. Lula was a member of Great Crossings Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired Wildcats counter girl during Fran Curci and Jerry Claiborne's coaching seasons at The University of Kentucky. She is survived by her children Thomas Taylor Jr., Cynthia Pearson and Gregory Johnson Taylor; one sister, Hattie Willis; seven grandchildren and several great-great Grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Lulu was preceded in death by one son, Cornelius Allen Taylor; one grandson, Terrell Taylor; one sister, Alice McCall; three brothers, Harry Lewis, Charles Lewis and Major Lewis. Visitation will be Monday, August 31st, at First Baptist Church from Noon until time of service at 1pm with Reverend Stevie Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Please remember to abide by the current health regulations and wear a face covering at all times and practice social distancing while visiting with the family and attending the service. The church will be at fifty percent capacity as instructed by the maximum occupancy allowance at this time.
