Katie Mae Greene Wilson, 92, widow of Avalon H. "Mackie" Wilson, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026. Born in Georgetown, KY, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Frances Releford Greene.
A former factory worker with Clark Equipment, Katie was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was recently honored as the oldest member of the congregation. She served on the usher committee for many years, including the offices of secretary, treasurer and president. A member for 63 years, she served as the church clerk, assisted with the Junior Choir and was a former leader of the Red Circle Girls.
She is survived by her children, Denise (Gerry) Wilson Harris, Ronald Wayne "Rick" (Suellyn) Wilson and Kevin Maurice (Velinda) Wilson; grandchildren, Michelle Gerrica Perseley, Derek Ray Wilson, Ronda Lee Simmons, Darrel Maurice Wilson, Jessica Denise (Aaron) Harris-Hunt, Avalon Jaiz "A.J." Wilson, Danielle Olivia Harris, Chase Avalon Wilson, Christiana Gabrielle Harris, Malik Isaiah Maurice (Taylor) Wilson and Hunter Sage Wilson; as well as numerous great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Freddie, Jessie, Ernest, John and Charlie Greene, Minnie McIntyre, Betty Lewis and Mabel Garland; as well as a great grandchild, Cayson Wilson.
Funeral services will be 12 PM Saturday, August 15, 2026 at First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Frank W. Houston. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 AM till service time at the church.
