Juan "Johnny" Leiva Gonzales, 89, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. Johnny was born on December 21, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas. Johnny is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Stella Gonzales Vidales, parents, Juan and Regina L. Gonzales, and brothers, Joe and George Gonzales. He is survived by his loving wife, Catalina Torres Gonzales; son, Albert (Rosemary) Gonzales; daughter, Regina Casarez Gonzales; adopted daughter, Gabrielle Gonzales; stepchildren, Catalina, Eric, Diana, and Maria; sisters, Beatrice G. Montelongo, and Elizabeth G. Corona; grandchildren, Crystal G. Vasquez, Rosemarie G. Darrous; Zachery Gonzales, Ariel Gonzales, Felipe Cadena, Jr., Esmeralda V. Golding, and Benjamin Vidales; 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. Johnny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed the simplicity of life at home. He served 34 years in active-duty service in the U.S. Army as a 11B-Infantry Man. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired on August 1, 1987. When possible, he enjoyed taking trips as a volunteer for the 7th Squadron 17th Air Cavalry Museum and volunteered with the Texas State Guard at the rank of Master Sergeant assisting in state disasters and disaster relief.
