John P. Kitchen, 81, widower of Sally Clay Parker Kitchen, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024. Born in Cynthiana, KY, he was the son of the late Carl and Martha Reed Kitchen.
The most important thing in John's life was his love and dedication to his family. In 1961, he started his career at Hoover in Georgetown. He enjoyed his career and retired as President of Leggett & Platt in 2004. He was a long-time member and Elder of Oxford Christian Church. He loved to garden, drive his corvette and reminisce about growing up on the farm.
He is survived by his three daughters, Amy Dunn, Jill (Jim) Sizemore and Ellie Kitchen; sisters, Brenda Kitchen and Marilyn Kitchen; grandchildren, Allie (Nic) Dunn, Briana (Jared) Coleman, Austin (Hayley) Litteral, Kinston (Anastasia) Coleman, Blake Coleman, Johnny Whitfield and Chelsea Vannarsdall; great grandchildren, Logan Coleman, Kailianna McGowan and Alice Bushey.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday at Johnson's Funeral Home, conducted by Chaplain Phillip Moody. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Austin Litteral, Kinston Coleman, Blake Coleman, Johnny Whitfield, Nic Jones and Robert Dunn. Honorary bearers will be Bob Gazzillo, David B. Glass, David Jones, Mark Lowe and Donnie Cottrell. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday and 11 AM till service time on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
