Obituary

James P. Lewis, II "J.P."
J.P. was born on the Fourth of July, 1952 and was known as Firecracker Lewis. He lived up to that title. J.P. passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 71 years of age.
He was born in Lexington, KY to the late Homer C. Lewis and Hazel Johns Lewis. He was the youngest of five children. After graduating from Georgetown High School in 1970, he attended Manatee Junior College, Georgetown College, and Morehead State University. He was a member of the Georgetown Baptist Church and the Building Industry Association of Central Kentucky.

J.P was the owner of StoneMasters of Georgetown, KY. Many Central Kentucky homes and businesses were built using J.P.'s beautiful stone. He was very dedicated to his work and he and his stone masons took pride in producing an exceptional result for each and every client.

He will always be remembered as friendly, outgoing and never met a stranger. His memory for people, places, and events was unsurpassed. He had numerous friends and always enjoyed a good conversation; he definitely had the gift of gab! All of J.P.'s nieces and nephews fondly remember him as being the family clown, especially when he performed his signature eyelid trick!
J.P. bountifully loved his family and his friends and had a special place in his heart for his best friends and caregivers Janie Berryman and Melissa Lay.

J.P. had a soft spot for his dogs, treating each one like the valuable family members that they were. Three of his favorites were beautiful German Shepherds Heidi, Gretchen, and Veda.

He was preceded in death by his parents Homer C. and Hazel Johns Lewis, brother Homer C. Lewis, Jr., sister Diana Lewis McMillin and nephew Jeffrey C. McMillin.

He is survived by his brother Bob Lewis (Judy), sister Patsy Lewis, nephews Dr. Joe P. McMillin (Dr. Karen), Cam Lewis (Katie), Jesse McMillin (Alicia) and nieces Meredith Thomas, Elaine Nolan, Melanie Lewis (Damien Barchowsky) and 14 great nieces and nephews, as well as a special cousin Lewis Wolfe (Lynne).
