During his childhood he attended school in Central City, with his family eventually moving to Owensboro. He married Burnice Martine Scott in Echols in 1962. In Jim's early years he worked at Houchens grocery store in Beaver Dam and Ernie Davis Plumbing in Owensboro. In the late 70's he moved to Arizona, where he worked in various mines. He returned to Kentucky in the early 90's and eventually settled in Georgetown where he lived until his passing.

He was truly special, and his absence will be felt by all who loved him.
