Obituary

Irene Laverne (Sissy) Perkins Stevens, 92, widow of Leo Dominic Stevens, Jr, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023. Born September 25th in Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Florence Roberts Perkins.

She was a proud 1949 Graduate of Great Crossings High School. She worked as a Bookkeeper for many years starting at Oldham Lumber Company also working for Preferred Stamping & Stamping Ground Tool & Die before retiring.
She was a long-time member of Gano Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending Church and Sunday School.

Over the years she was an avid Bowler winning many trophies. She enjoyed camping at the Horse Park with friends & family.
She loved cooking. She was known as one of the best cooks around and loved reading her cookbooks and trying new recipes. Her true enjoyment was her grandchildren. Known as MeMe she was always ready to go watch a Basketball game, softball game or a dance recital. She was their biggest supporter & fan.

She is survived by her daughters, Janie Greenup Mallory and Kathy (Wyatt) Hoffman: grandchildren, Taylor (Ashley Wells) Mallory, Laura Hoffman, Wyatt Hoffman, II and Mary Kate Hoffman; great grandchildren, Luka and Liam Mallory. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Charles T. Perkins, Jr., DVM.

Visitation will be 11 AM Thursday, December 7th at Johnson's Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 1 PM, conducted by Rev. Harry Hargis. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. Casket Bears will be Wyatt Hoffman, II, Taylor Mallory, Carl Tackett, Mike Marshall, Brian Stevens and Mark Stevens. Honorary Bearers will be Ernie Burge, Dean Perkins, Mark Sinclair, Clarence Lee and Jim Maloney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gathering Place Mission ℅ Women's Shelter.
