Gayle M. Mull, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023 after a short illness. Born in Gastonia, NC, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Viola "Flossie" Fletcher Murphy. She spent most of her life in her beloved North Carolina, but had recently moved to be with her niece in Georgetown, KY.

Gayle attended William Peace University and had a long career in public service with the North Carolina Department of Corrections, first as a Work Release Program Manager and then as an Assistant Superintendent. She attended Covenant United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC, where she loved singing in the choir. She was active in the Emmaus Community for many years where she made many good friends. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her nieces, Gayle (Murphy) Manning and Ginger Murphy, nephew Anthony Murphy, and several Murphy family cousins who she enjoyed spending time with throughout the years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Stewart Murphy or "Bobby" as she always called him.

Her ashes will be interred in Gastonia, NC following a private service at a later time.
