Frank Mason, 84, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, after a brief illness. Formerly of Georgetown, Kentucky, he and his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara, retired to Sun City in 2019.

Born in Philadelphia on November 26, 1941, to Elizabeth and William Mason, Frank spent his early childhood on Maryland's Eastern Shore before the family settled in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Following high school and graduation from the University of Maryland, he married Barbara Zoda, and the couple made their first home in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. He began a distinguished career as a systems analyst with a research branch of Boeing, later continuing with SDC, Mathematica, and EAI, where his work brought him into rewarding collaborations with NASA, the State of New Jersey, Mastercard, and the French Atomic Energy Commission.

In 1975, encouraged by his brother Charles, the family relocated to Lexington, Kentucky, where he opened Contemporary Galleries furniture store. He returned to his roots in computer software in 1981 upon joining the administrative staff of Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. Committed to his own growth, he drove to Cincinnati twice each week to earn an MBA from Xavier University in 1988. Deeply engaged in the life of the college, he rose ultimately to serve as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Devotion to family guided Frank throughout his life. He delighted in creating joyful and enriching experiences for his children, sharing with them his love of music and travel, and nurturing each of their interests. His son and daughter have often spoken of their deep gratitude for his steadfast encouragement of their aspirations.

Service to community was equally dear to him. A 25-year member of the Georgetown Rotary Club, he served as chapter president and later as a board member. He embraced Rotary's philanthropic spirit, participating enthusiastically in its fundraising efforts and helping to create its cherished "dictionary" project, which placed a dictionary in the hands of every fourth-grade student in the county. In recognition of his exemplary service, he was honored with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Most treasured of all were the enduring friendships Rotary brought into his life.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven; his brother, Charles; and his sister, Anne. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Catherine (Chris) Cencia; his son, Andrew (Megan); his grandchildren, Eli Luckey and Grace Arnett; and his sister, Margaret (Lou) Coccodrilli.

A Celebration of Life for South Carolina friends will be held in Sun City, Bluffton, on October 24, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. Final arrangements are entrusted to Johnson's Funeral Home in Georgetown, Kentucky on November 14, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
