Evangeline Campos Riojas

Evangeline (Van) Campos Riojas, age 80, passed away on March 6th, 2025, with her family at her side.

Van was born on August 22nd, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas to Bessie and Antonio Campos. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in San Antonio. Van then went on to earn her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Our Lady of the Lake University also in San Antonio, Texas. She was a proud member of Theta Beta sorority and an active member of the St. Matthew Parish community.

Van shared a special bond with her sister, Helen Campos Sanchez. She was always a loving mother to her son, Christopher Riojas, and devoted Nana to granddaughter Megan Riojas Garza and grandson -in- law Jacob Garza. She was also the "fun Aunt Vangie" to numerous nieces and a nephew.

Van's true passion and dedication in her life was the many students she helped as a teacher and then counselor during her 54 years at Northside ISD in San Antonio. The love for "Ms. Van" was limitless and expressed often by the generations of students she touched.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at St. Matthew Catholic Church. A mass will be at 2pm with a reception to follow in the parish hall - 10703 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas, 78230.
