Eugene Thomas Smith Sr., 79, widower of Mary Margaret (Houston) Smith, passed away on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021. He was born June 2nd, 1942 in Sadieville, Kentucky, son of the late William T. and Eugenia (Sanford) Smith. Eugene retired from IBM after twenty-six years and retired from the Scott County School System where he had been a school bus driver. Eugene was also a Realtor and auctioneer for many years. He was a member of The Grand Lodge of Kentucky, F. & A.M. St. Andrews Lodge #18. Eugene enjoyed working in his shop and on his farm. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them as often as he could. Eugene is survived by his sons, Eugene Thomas (Nelda) Smith Jr. and Allen Kenney Smith; six grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Smith, Jessica Emily Smith, Shane Goforth, Hunter Lucas (Alyssa B.) Smith, Alexander Colton Smith and Isabella Corinne Smith; two great-granddaughters, Josephine Ray Smith and Lila Jane Smith; one brother, Everett Dean (Kathy) Smith. In addition to his wife and parents, Eugene was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Sanford Smith, William Ray Smith and Mark Douglas Smith. Visitation will be Monday, August 9th from 11am until time of service at 1pm at Harmony Christian Church with David Clark officiating. Burial will be at Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana. Serving as pallbearers will be Allen K. Smith, Hunter Smith, Alex Smith and Shane Goforth. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James "Jimmy" Stone, Everett "Bubby" Bramel, John "Johnny" Kitchen and Tim Hanks.
