Edwin Pascal Alyea, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Georgetown, Kentucky, on Friday, October 24, 2025. Ed, or Ned as he was known to close family, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 9, 1929, to the late Dr. Edwin Pascal Alyea and Nancy Anderson Alyea. Moving to North Carolina as a young boy, Ed experienced the joys of living in Durham but also spent time with his grandparents in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Ed attended The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey and then graduated from Princeton University. After graduation, he served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and considered it one of his greatest honors.
Marrying Margaret Ann Jackson on January 28, 1958, was the highlight of his life. They were a devoted couple for 67 years, enjoying traveling, visiting grandchildren and spending time in Kentucky and at Kerr Lake in North Carolina.

A lifelong lover of Kentucky bluegrass, horses and farmland, Ed was able to devote his time to his family farm in Georgetown while also working for American Tobacco Company in the Leaf Department for thirty-six years. His work took him through Georgia, the Carolinas and Kentucky where he and Margaret Ann made lasting friendships.
Ed is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann, daughter, Sarah Harty of Houston, Texas and son, Dr. Edwin P. Alyea III and wife Carolyn E. Donovan of Durham, North Carolina. His grandchildren, Katherine Harty Morris and her husband Brandon, Stephen Burgess Harty, Edwin Patrick Alyea, Grace Elisabeth Alyea and Ethan Pascal Alyea will all remember him for his love for each of them.

Ed will be missed by so many. He was well loved and the lessons he shared and the memories that have been made will be cherished forever.

Private services will be held at a later date. Johnson's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
