Obituary

Edith Lee Smith Trombley, 99, widow of Charles A. Trombley, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026. Born in Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Ora Mae Shepard Smith. She was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers.

Edith was a retired secretary at the Pentagon, with the U.S. Department of Defense. She was a long time member of Great Crossing Baptist Church, was accomplished with ceramics and studied family genealogy for over 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Pitchford (Mike-dec.); step children, Maxine Vance, Frieda Mae Wheatley (Murel), and Richard C. Ross; grandchildren, Adam Pitchford (Dana), and Scott Pitchford; great grandchildren, Westley Pitchford and Malcolm Pitchford, along with step grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 PM till service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Great Crossing Baptist Church, ATTN: Missions, 1061 Stamping Ground Rd, Georgetown, KY 40324.
