Donald Ray Hood, 94, widower of the love of his life, Mary Ann LaVon Peterson Hood, peacefully went home to Jesus in heaven Wednesday, September 9, 2026, surrounded by family at home, in Lexington, KY. Born May 9, 1932, in Scott County, KY, he was the son of the late Claude and Pearl Mae Humphrey Hood.

He was baptized July 1, 1944 into Christ Jesus. A 1950 graduate of Garth High School, he was a former sales manager with Lance/Nabisco. He enjoyed traveling with his family, as well as spending time with family and many friends. He was a SSGT in the United State Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

He is survived by his children, Sheree Yvonne Hood and Daniel "Danny" Robin (Laurie) Hood; grandchildren, Sarah Rion (Keith) Ledford and Christen Nolena Blackburn; great grandchildren, Jonathan Daniel Ledford and River Trent Blackburn; sister-in-law, Geraldine Peterson; nieces and nephews, Donna, Diane, Debbie, Curt, Angela, Christopher, Susan, Terri, Kelly, Debbie and Connie. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Barry Ray Hood and Roger Hood; brother, Julian Curtis Hood and his wife, Betty; great grandchild, Mary Annabell Blackburn; niece, Kathy Raap; nephews, David Peterson and Jerry Simonson; and great nephew, Brian Willoughby.

Graveside services will be 2 PM Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Georgetown Cemetery.
