Danny Ray Abshire, 79, of Sadieville, Kentucky, passed away Monday morning, December 15, 2025, at his home.
He was born on February 26, 1946, in Elkfoot, Kentucky to the late Kermit Abshire and Ovaleen (Casey) Sawyers.
On September 9, 1966, he married Judy Kaye Lester in Grundy, Virginia and they shared over 59 years together. Danny worked most of his life in the coal mine prep plants of Feds Creek, Kentucky. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved music and playing the guitar, banjo and piano.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; two daughters, Jackie(Donnie) Christian, of Sadieville, Kentucky and Chrissy Abshire, of Georgetown, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Sydney Christian, Cheyenne Cannon, Dalton Christian, Dylan Miller, Dakota Christian, Keeana Christian and Connor Keene; four great grandchildren, Charlee and Beckham House, Jaxon Christian and Raelynn Cummins; three brothers, Gary Abshire, Jerry Abshire and Ronnie Abshire. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer Lee Abshire; two sisters, Elva Justice and Ernie Gail Abshire; two brothers, Randy Abshire and Donnie Abshire.
Services will be private.
