It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Charles Norman Wood, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, on March 4, 2026. Charles, affectionately known as "Charlie" was born on July 30, 1944, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Norman and Helen Benford Wood.

Charlie graduated from Lakeview High School in 1962. With a spirit of adventure and a deep sense of duty, he enlisted in the United States Navy. During his service, Charlie was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, a testament to his dedication and bravery in the line of duty. Following his honorable discharge in 1968, Charlie embarked on a new chapter with a career at Clark Equipment, from which he eventually retired.

In 1978, Charlie married his beloved Kathy, and together they created a life filled with love and laughter. They affectionately called each other "Sundance" and "Sunshine," a testament to the joy they found in each other's company. Though Kathy has since passed, their love story remains a source of inspiration for all who knew them.
During his retirement years he found joy working on various carpentry projects and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Charlie's patience and quick wit were hallmarks of his character, endearing him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathy, his parents, Norman and Helen Wood, and his sister Norma Joyce Adams. He leaves behind his devoted son, Corey (Elizabeth)Wood, treasured grandchildren, Chloe and Ryan, sister-in-law Kay LaBarre, brother-in-law Corky Stone and nieces Tiffany Adams, Andrea Powell and Jordan Parker.

In accordance with Charlie's wishes, services will be private.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the VA Medical Center for their compassionate care and support during Charlie's final days. Though the physical presence of Charles Norman Wood will be deeply missed, the memories of his gentle spirit, unwavering patience, and boundless love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that he now rests in peace, reunited with those he loved so dearly.
