Listen to Obituary

Charles Joseph Finley, 74 known by all as Charlie Joe, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Georgetown, Charlie Joe was the son of the late Henry Wilson and Stella Frances Glass Finley. A lifelong resident of Scott County, he lived his entire life on the family farm, where he spent most of his life raising tobacco and working the ground. He devoted many years of service to the Scott County Sheriff's Office and retired from Scott County Government.

Charlie Joe had a passion for automobiles and classic tractors, particularly building and working on his street rods. His love of cars led him to become a member of the Ancient Age Street Rod Club, where he enjoyed sharing that passion and the friendships that came with it for 40 years. He was also active Mason with the Georgetown #3 Lodge becoming a master mason in 1974 and was presented his 50 year pin September of 2023. He was also a long time member with Lexington Shriners.

Charlie Joe was a devoted father who was always supportive of his children and proud of their accomplishments. As the years went by, however, his grandchildren became the true treasures of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great joy in watching them grow.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, two sons, Charles Joseph "Jake" Finley, Jr. (Lizzie) and Christopher Douglas Finley (Heather); stepdaughter, Ashley Morgerson; brother, Henry Willson Finley, Jr. (Anne); sister, Mary Lewis Gutwein; and grandchildren, Grace, Stella, Lucas, Houston, Brooklyn, and step grandson Kadin Morgerson. Preceded in death by step grandson Ashton Maxfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Johnson's Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM and continuing until the time of service.

Honorary casket bearers will be Tommy Payne, Willard Smith, Jackie Watson, Stephen Watson and all members of the Ancient Age Street Rod Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
