Carol Bidwell Brown passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, after courageously facing numerous health challenges throughout her life.

Carol was born on November 16, 1945, in Kingston, New York, to the late William S. and Frances Bidwell. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Georgetown, where she later graduated from Georgetown High School. Following graduation, Carol began her career at Mallard Pen and Pencil Factory before pursuing a position at IBM as an accountant. It was during her time at IBM that she met the love of her life, the late Donald C. Brown.

After retiring from IBM, Carol devoted herself fully to her family, whom she loved deeply and who loved her in return. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend—roles she embraced with warmth, kindness, and unwavering care.

Carol found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her family, feeding and watching birds, gardening, growing flowers, working puzzles, and caring for those around her. Her generous spirit and compassionate heart touched everyone who knew her, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Mark D. Bidwell.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Bidwell; her brothers, Robert (Arleen) Bidwell and Michael Bidwell; her son, David (Donna) Sutherland; and her nephew Matthew (Cassie) Bidwell. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jon (Allison) Sutherland, Zach (Lauren) Sutherland, Riley Sutherland, Paige Helms, and Kaz (Taylor) McKinney; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Arlo and Annie Sutherland; Annistyn and Maci Warner; and Kali, Layla, and Colton McKinney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

A private ceremony will be held for immediate family.
