Carl Edward Ward, 91, husband of Mayona Smith Ward, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3, 2023. Born May 14, 1932 in Huntington, WV, he was the son of the late Grover and Nellie Cremeans Ward.

A 1950 graduate of Huntington High School, he joined the Marine Corp and served in the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart. An extremely hard worker, he retired from Armco Steel as a sheet metal worker after 29 years of service and was a long-time member and Elder of the Moore Street Tabernacle. He loved the Lord, his family and his church and was an avid UK basketball fan.

In addition to his wife of 70 years, Mayona Ward, he is survived by his son, Richard (Karen) Ward; daughter, Becki (Ryan) Hogsten; daughter in law, Robin Ward; grandchildren, Noah Phillips, Mikayla Peter, Rachael Ward, Leah Ward, Gabriel Hogsten, Carlee Hogsten, and Elijah Ward; great grandchildren, Andi Peter, Camden Peter and Blake Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Ward; daughter, Patty Phillips; son in law, Mike Phillips; great grandson, Grayson Phillips.

Funeral services will be 12 PM Saturday at Moore Street Tabernacle, Ashland, KY. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Visitation will be 11 AM till service time.
