Bonnie Jean (Downey) Slaughter, 78, passed away, Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Sadieville, Kentucky. Born in Milan, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Georgia Downey.
Bonnie was a dedicated nurse and mother who raised her son in Florida and Montana while living life to the fullest. She was an avid painter who enjoyed scuba diving, backpacking, hiking and being adventurous. Some of her adventures included traveling to the Galapagos Islands, fly fishing in Montana and dog sledding in Alaska. Being a Methodist, her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God and she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Bonnie is survived by one son, Shawn (Pam) Sturgill; granddaughter, Shawna (James) Butcher; great-granddaughter, Avery Butcher; nieces, Tina (Larry) Walters and Robin Bryant; great niece, Cassie Coley; and a host of family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Downey; and sisters, Judy Downey Miller and Penny Downey.
