Beatrice Fay "Mimi" (Courtney) Steele, 91, widow of Robert Thomas Steele, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023. She was born on July 27, 1932 in Covington, Kentucky, daughter of the late Stanley Aaron and Lillie Mae (Simpson) Courtney. Fay was owner of Modern Beauty Shop for many years and taught at Georgetown Children's Montessori School and had been a substitute teacher for the Scott County School System. She attended Great Crossing Baptist Church and was a member of the Stamping Ground Women's Club. Fay sang with His Majesty's Messengers and loved to read, work crossword puzzles, picture puzzles and she was a life long learner. Fay was an avid tennis player when she was younger.
Fay is survived by her daughter, Felicia Steele Harper; her two granddaughters, Lea Courtney (Matthew) Medders and Evan Steele Harper; a close cousin, Pauline Copes; her devoted caregiver and friend, Sandi Pribble; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, Fay was preceded in death by her siblings.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Johnson's Funeral Home from Noon until time of service at 1pm with Pastor Stephen Bruce and Pastor Ben Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Medders, Douglas Black, Jimmy Ray Offutt, Justin Stearns, Danny Towles and Jeff Vickery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be David B. Glass, Dusty Glass, Wayne Robey, James Ingram, Timothy Charles Clarkston and Danny Blades.
