Obituary

Barbara (Hampton) Barron, 89, widow of Alan Dale Barron, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024. She was born January 7, 1935 in Georgetown, Kentucky, daughter of the late Roscoe Alvin and Allie Mae (Ritchey) Hampton. Barbara worked at Holiday Inn West for twenty-four years, where she retired as the head of housekeeping. Barbara loved to play solitaire and to work on puzzles.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Deborah Raider; two sons, David (Katrina) Whitley and Bruce Whitley; four grandchildren, Cara Augusto, David (Lyndsay) Whitley III, Shelby (Troy) Whittemore and Branden (Leah) Raider; seven great-grandchildren, Walker Whitley, Archer Raider, Beckham Raider, Blaine Whittemore, Lynley Raider, Wirth Whitley and Boone Whittemore; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Henderson and Gloria Beckham Cribbs; two brothers, Alvin (Carol) Hampton and Bobby Hampton. In addition to her parents and her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Whitley and Barry Whitley: one granddaughter, Jami Whitley and one sister, Peggy Marshall.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Johnson's Funeral Home from 10am until time of service at Noon with Troy Whittemore officiating. Burial will be in Crestlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Whitley, Bruce Whitley, David Whitley III, Branden Raider, Troy Whittemore and Justin Henderson. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1733 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40504.
