Arlene Long

Arlene passed away peacefully at her home in Georgetown, Kentucky, on June 12th, leaving a void in this world that is hard to fill. Born in Hayden, Colorado, the sixth child to John W. and Edith E. "Toot's" (Nelson) Long, along with her twin sister.

Home was a ranch on Trout Creek. She started school in a one-room schoolhouse known as the Trout Creek School. Later, she went to school in Oak Creek. The family moved to Craig, CO, in 1959, where she continued her education. Arlene was a devoted and loving mother to her children, fiercely protective and very proud of each one.

She leaves behind five children: Charlie (Brad) Murray, Chuck (Shelly) Smith, Willard (Kady) Smith, Kathe (Ray) Nolley, and Leonia (Branden) Womack. She welcomed all the kids' friends with open arms, offering them plenty of food and a place to stay. Arlene loved her big family.

She will be remembered as always willing to help when needed, and she was the hardest-working person you have ever seen. She was our fun and silly person. She always had a smile on her face, making everyone around her smile. She made us happy.

Additionally, she leaves behind a brother: Mike (Connie) Long, three sisters: Bobbi Ann Rauito, Sandy Wisecup, and twin sister Maxine (Pat) Green, a sister-in-law: Linda Long, 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, numerous extended family members, and friends. Preceded in death by one infant son: Johnny Chivers, parents: John and "Toot's" Long, brothers: Nelson "Rocky" Long, David "Dusty" Long, and grandparents: Joe and Lydia Long, and Dave and Alta Nelson.

Thank you to the hospice that gave her such loving care.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 4th at Arlene's Home (688 Sims Pike, Georgetown, KY) starting at 4pm. It will conclude at dusk with a fireworks show.
