Obituary

Archie Lee Barnes, 74, of Nicholasville, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026. Born in Georgetown, KY, he was the son of the late William Bradley and Nona Lee Gullett Barnes.

The consummate farmer, Archie loved his horses, draft horses and enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed quiet time on the porch bird watching, he loved to sing and was always ready to sit back and watch an old western. He fiercely loved his family and cherished his time with them.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda Whitaker, Tammy (Chad) Becknell and Kevin Barnes; brother, Ronnie (Tina) Barnes; sisters, Betty (Teddy) Porter, Vickie Ruth and Bonnie (Earl) West; grandchildren, Patrick Becknell, Hunter Becknell, Malorie (Lane) Crank and Brayden Barnes; one beloved great granddaughter, Harper Becknell; as well as granddogs and cats. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lona Alexander, Beverly Graves, William "Billy" Bradley Barnes, Jr, James "Dee" Barnes, Benny Barnes and Gayle Barnes.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Trinity Assembly of God, conducted by Bro. Jack Whitaker. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Patrick Becknell, Hunter Becknell, Brayden Barnes, Lane Crank, Benji Wilson and Rusty Ruth. Honorary bearers will be James Robert Williamson, Steve Stakelin, Bobby Joe Traylor, Bennie Stanley, Jim Miller, Ted Hafley, Richie Slider, Johnny Mays, Woody White, Frankie Giles and Will Reed. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be 9 AM till service time on Wednesday at the church.
