Andrew (Andy) Robert Hricko, age 96, husband of Mary Jane Crisman Patterson Hricko, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, in Lexington, KY, surrounded by his loving family. Born 11/12/1928 in Dickson City, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Tillie Shuklis Hricko. He was a resident of Locust Grove, VA for 32 years, before moving to Georgetown, KY in 2021.

A graduate of the University of Scranton, with a degree in Accounting, he later received his law degree from Dickinson School of Law. A veteran of the United States Air Force. A former Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He also served as Assistant Chief Counsel Bureau of Corporation Tax Department of Revenue Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Sr. Attorney, Legal Division Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Washington, DC. For 26 years, he served as the General Counsel, Secretary/Treasurer with Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Washington, DC. During this time, his book, Key Issues in Highway Loss Reduction was published along with many publications regarding roadside hazards and safety. He appeared before state and federal courts testifying for the implementation of automobile and highway safety.

His legacy to our world will be the lives that were saved by his involvement and ultimate success of the installation of both seat belts and airbags into today's modern cars along with reducing many roadside hazards. He enjoyed European travel, studying history of all types, along with dancing and loving his dogs. In the 1950's he coached little league baseball and a team that participated in the Little League World Series.

In addition to his wife of 36 years, he is survived by his daughter, Deborah (William) Viney; step children, Patrick (Lynn) Patterson and Jane (Richard Ernest) Patterson; daughter in law, Susan Hricko; grandchildren, Thomas (Andrea) Viney, Kenneth (Caroline Powell) Viney, Barbara (Brandon) Langley, Steven (Jaime) Hricko, Kristen Hricko; step grandchildren Kyle Patterson, Sierra Patterson, Joshua Ernest, Adam Ernest; great grandchildren, Allison Viney, Brianna Langley, Trace Hricko, Josephine Hricko, Lorelei Webb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Witkoski Hricko and his son, Robert Steven Hricko.

Services will be private at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Covington Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
