Alex S. Hernandez, beloved husband, treasured father, adored grandfather, cherished brother, gifted musician, and admired friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 16, 2025. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War, a celebrated and decorated musician, and a man whose life was rooted in acts of service, passion in his gifts and talents; and above all, dedication and love for his family.

Alex's love for music was woven into every aspect of his life. An endowed saxophonist, he was inducted into the Tejano Hall of Fame and was widely known for his contributions to legendary bands such as The Latin Breed, The Royal Jesters, and Street People. His devotion to Tejano and jazz music not only inspired audiences but also championed the sound and spirit of a generation. In January 2025, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the Tejano music industry for over 50 years.

Alex is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Elena Hernandez, and his children: Jennifer Rocha (Joe), Lenny Hernandez, and Robin Guerra (Carlos). He was a proud and doting grandfather to Adrian Hernandez, Joey Rocha, Gabriel Rocha, Analysia Hernandez, AJ Guerra, Grayson Hernandez and Campbell Hernandez. He also cherished the grandchildren he shared with his wife - Tyler Meinhold, Ashley Meinhold, Lauren Meinhold, Zach Ramirez, Leo Ramirez, Baylee Brock, and Felicity Brock.

Alex also leaves to cherish his memory, stepchildren: Annette Ramirez-Meinhold, Gilbert Ramirez (Laura) & Sonya Brock.

He is survived by his sisters, Jo-Ann Soliz, Rachael Barrera, a host of nieces and nephews and extended family who will remember him with fond memories. He is preceded in death by his parents, Estella and Alex Hernandez, and sisters Rosalie Gonzales and Irma Hernandez. The list of friends that he counted as brothers is too great to list but he loved and admired them all dearly.

Alex's legacy will live on through the timeless music he created, the life and family that he anchored, the courage with which he served, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His kindness, strength, and the unforgettable sound of his saxophone will echo in our hearts forever.
